Map of land cover and the overall inventory of land covered by vegetation, with a particular emphasis on urban green areas
A preparation of a very detailed map which would reflect the actual land cover, including not only buildings, but also all kinds of vegetation possible without leaving the buildings. How? Thanks to the use of the most modern methods for exploring the area. They include multispectral aerial and satellite photos as well as laser scanning. To simplify, the latter can be compared to a distance measurement, where the distance meter (a laser device) is placed on a flying machine (airplane, helicopter). As a result, a cloud of points is generated. In 2012 the measurements for Kraków were performed and the average cloud density equaled 12 points/m2. The final result of the action “Land cover map with the assignment of aerodynamic roughness coefficients and the overall inventory of the areas covered with vegetation, with a particular emphasis on urban green areas” will be data, which will be introduced into climate models and subsequently counted and verified. Among others, it will help in determining the important areas of air exchange and regeneration and will provide an answer to the question of how to shape the land development which would be optimal for improving the aerosanitary conditions.
